Daily Update

FROM THE DESK OF NEWS DIRECTOR TRACY ELLIS…

Fit Club partner Todd and I had our first workout with Tiffany on Monday and it was brutal. She assures us that it will get easier – I hope she’s not lying. We’re now using the “Body Bugg,” which shows us how many calories we’re burning every day – It’s pretty cool. We also use a computer program that helps us monitor our activity and how much we eat.

I’m working on several possible stories for today/tomorrow/this week:

Lynden teachers may soon have a new contract.

Ecology is accepting comments on a couple of local cleanups.

Legislator Doug Ericksen is helping to keep art at Peace Arch Park during the Olympics.

A meeting is being held Wednesday on asbestos in Swift Creek.

Public Works reminds people to get leave off of storm drains.

The County Council meets tonight.

  1. Hi, Todd here, I am Tracy’s partner for Fit Club and he’s not lying about getting our butts kicked Monday! Tiffany definitely worked us hard and there was no reprieve Wednesday when Darcy took over as our punisher…er…instructor! Stay tuned for more reports on our progress with KGMI and BAC’s Fit Club!

  2. Well, we are halfway thru Week 2 of Fit Club and believe it or not, it’s getting easier! The workouts are still grueling, and I am taking the maximum recommended dose of Advil, but we are actually having fun during the workouts - at least I am! This really is something at any age or any physical level can do, Tiffany and Darcy (the trainers) are willing to modify an exercise to make it fit to the person doing it; that kind of help is invaluable when you’re starting out.

  3. Hi, it’s Darcie, one of the instructors/punishers :). I’m glad your getting challenged and enjoying it, that is the goal! It’s great having you guys there!
